2 surf sessions 2 different breaks

I really wish I could post pictures from the I Phone.

First Last Friday was my wedding anniversary and hubs woke me up At 5:00sh in the morning,to surf! His plans were to surf and then go out and have a nice lunch at a place called Sabatinos.

So we were in the water at 6:45 and surfed till about 9 am... Surf was again not the greatest. Water was warm and clean and the vibe was good!
I caught 1 fun right and again some close outs. Hubs came outside with me but was catching waves inside....He is still not comfortable catching outside. I saw him take one nice ride with good form! I cheared for him from the outside!

We also were surrounded by 4-5 SUP's that all of a sudden multiplied from 1 to like 5! They were cool to me when I went after waves they backed off. But poor hubs inside every time he went after a wave ..... A paddled boarder was already on it.

Waves were about 2-3 and the wind picked up right before we got out! It got very bumpy and hard to paddle out.

When we got out my friend Irma was running in for a quick session before she had to go to work! I saw her catch a fun long right.

We also saw a few other friends and then I got dressed and we went to hubs local bar for some bloody Mary's... Nothing like a liquid breakfast after surf..;-)



Then went to a friends house for a bit (we get to pet/house sit for her this comming weekend) yes less than 5 miles from the beach!!!



Then we hit Sabatinos had a nice bottle of wine and an amazing sausage pasta dish!



I had a very nice Anniversary day! Hubs did good planning it out! Later I made dinner and we rented some movies from redbox!

Then Saturday I woke up early again to meet my friend Artie to surf and do a beach trash pick up.

Artie wanted to surf at 7 am... Her employer organized a beach clean up from 9-11 am
So I get up early again , make the drive to HB state beach. I have never surfed here and we were just right of the river mouth.

Wow what a work out, long walk from the car to the water... That hike in sand carrying Mo, was a lil tougher than I thought! Than the paddle to get outside was a lil farther than I thought too, plus I was tired from the previous day events.

Surf conditions a lil better than Fridays..water still clean and warm... But still not a lot of shape to the waves... I got one nice left and again a few close outs. One was so bumpy I could not stand up for the longest time.. I almost was washed off my board my body was pushed off the side .... But I held on and almost at he end I did stand up and rode for a minute..... It was crazy! I laughed so hard after!

Artie rode a wave inside but it didn't take her in all the way. Her board hit her chin and she was bleeding... But thankfully it was not bad at all.

We did the beach clean up. I filled up a big heavy bag and I took a second small bag. Again what a workout walking on that sans and picking up trash for 2 hours! We had a nice pile of trash when we were done! I really wish people would pick up after their selves!! I also think all surfers and anyone who has a love for the ocean should participate in beach cleanups!



Well that's it for now... Was suppose to surf Sunday but I needed to do some chores and was told I surfed a lot this week! Which cost $$ for gas and parking ... So I took a few days off.. But I think I'm going to surf 6 days in a row starting tomorrow ( (International Surf Day)

Plus Friday - Monday house sitting close to beach... Hopefully get a few sunset surf in as well!

HB & 1 Right

Basically that was my whole 20 minutes in the water today.

Met my friend Laura, South side of pier. Of course my luck drive all the way out there and the wind picks up...boo!

Laura was having difficulties and for her to be in that position I know it's yucky conditions! But I did take a shoulder and got a nice right...bumpy as all heck but eventually stood up and enjoyed the ride!

As I was paddling back out I see Laura perfectly position and pop up and that wave pitched her head first with the board coming down right on top of her! I was cringing!!! Whew, she is OK!!! After that she said ok time to go In..and If "Miss Trestles" says its time to go in.... Damn straight I'm right behind her!

After that she went to meet a friend for a bike ride and I was invited but, I went beach combing for sea glass!

Then decided to finally use a gift certificate I got for Christmas from Victory Koredry.. I got two rash guards for $50.. A short sleeve and a long sleeve.They really cater to the SUP Crowd, but the guys were chill product looks good for the price... So I say check them out.. And looks like I should be surfing thurs.-sun woo hoooo!

I'm back... Or experimenting I phone blogging...

Ok I have a few things to report...I shall start with I purchased an I phone...an attempting to blog from it

Now this is interesting , so we shall see how it goes...not only trying to figure out blogger on this thing ...I'm also still learning it..I do want to say its better than the blackberry.. But I seriously feel like a Grandma learning new technology...and this small print is killing my eyes!

I also got into the water Saturday, for 1 1/2 hours. Went to Blackies... Very choppy a bit breezy and lots of close outs. .... I rode 4 close outs.. 2 just on my knees... I was having problems popping up on that bumpy crap..I had 1 wipeout , which was my first wave.,, but the water was warm and I worked my paddling muscles... And it was just plain nice to be out there!!

However of course Saturday at Blackies and the start of summer equals crowds and the "Shoobies"



Crowds can = crowded surf line and that is no fun... I almost had a bad incident.. I was going after a wave and was in motion and just about to pop up and I guy behind me yells look to your left!!!! I did and this guy was whizzing down the line comming right at me!!! He was coming from far away but fast! I backed off my board I swear it was like mid drop !!! And the nose of my board almost j
Kissed his board.. It was a very close call!!! But whew... No incident!!

My arms were feeling it surf was getting worse.. So I came in.


I had to spend the day out there. We went to a fun going away/pacquio fight party that night.







Complete with a Tahitian fire dancer and amazing food and the best people! Funny a lot of people who surf Blackies were there, who I see all the time ...but just met that night! Great fun!!!

In other news filed for unemployment "payment is a joke" and got the amount for Cobra and it cost $100 more a month then what I receive in unemployment benefits!!! So looking into "affordable" "cough cough" medical insurance "is that even a real thing?" ha! Also sent out a few resumes.... :-)


Ok so there's my update! And I actually have been in good spirits through all this .. Just wish had more gas $$ and surf time!

Short and Sweet

YAY!!! I got my hands on a computer and internet!

A few short things...

1)Tomorrow is my official last day of employment.. I am hoping for more surf time. a few things here. 1.. bye bye health insurance for a while... bye bye black berry and computer access. Need a new phone and I have a Laptop..(that was not working..but found out it was just my power cord.. Yay!) So need to get that and internet.

But It is kind of nice being off the grid for a bit. Sort of a cleansing of technology.

2) I have not surfed..even though I have had lots of free time.. SURF HAS SUCKED. and not worth the gas to get down to the beach. So now unemployed I have to really be picky and frugal!

3)Again.. I will not be around here as much.. so don't forget me! Please keep positive vibes coming. I will need a new hopefully "FUN" "Lucrative" job soon. I really don't want to be in an office. But we shall see what comes my way!

San O Kick Off Summer Party!!

Again typing on BB..so you know routine..forgive any typos I can barely see this!

My surf club does a kick off summer party every year at San O..always around end of May..this year we avoided the Memorial Day Weekend.Its also the first time I have been able to attend!

I had a blast at San O! Of course the WK gals and their families have a lot to do with it! But also the surf and yummy food and I was able to have a jam session with my Uke. A few girls play guitar and Kathleen is our Uke player..and she has taught me a lot. I have never taken a lesson. I have had my Uke just under a year.SO I could not believe I actually strummed along to a few songs! :)Even that song " Somebody I use to know" Just two simple chords. =)

The Wahine Kai Hot Flashes!!!

Surfing..well let's start with I never tied boards by myself on my Tahoe..since bringing 2 teenagers and all 4 boards..I had to put the 2 biggest on the racks..I brought Mo... But never ended up riding him I used the 9'6 the whole time..any way got the boards on and made it to San O NO problem!

Surf was any where from shoulder high way outside to knee high..Put they were very mushy and hard to catch..LOTS of paddling..But I think that is how it always is at San O at least that seems to be my experience..

Well I caught a lot of long fun rides..That 9'6 really helps! I don't know if I would have had any rides if I didn't use that board. I did 2 sessions and surfed till I could not paddle any longer! I have NO idea how long my sessions were..I just know I had tons of fun!!

My daughter brought her Boyfriend and this was the 2nd time he had been surfing..he went all the way outside and rode that foam board like he has been surfing forever! My daughter was getting frustrated, she is now on Tallulah..and not too sure about it and had never been to San O, so she stayed inside..and didn't get much..plus she had a sore toe and knee..But they both went out two times as well..I need to take her out more so she gets more confident with Tallulah!

Any way we stayed from 7 am till 4 and just had the best time ever! Can't wait to surf all summer! So this unemployment will be fun! If I can muster up the gas $$ "actually I would be at DoHo right now if I had $$ for gas"..:(..my friends went without me!

Anyway..so we tie up the boards for our trip home..and IDK what I did wrong..but "thankfully" 2 minutes from my house we hear the loudest thump thump thump on the roof of the Tahoe..I pulled over on the freeway (Icould see my house from where we were) and had Bradley check it out and he said the boards came loose and were on the other side of the roof! So he hung out the window and held them..While I slowly drove off the freeway..we tighten them up and got home...whew!! I guess I didn't pull the strap through the clip part the right way :(!! Lesson learned!

But ALL and ALL what a GREAT way to kick off summer!!

Blogging from my Blackberry

Well I have to blog from my Blackberry...which I will have to surrender at the end of the month.
I am technically out of work but am on call so to say till May 31st. I have not computer access.My laptop died..but hopefully its just a battery or powercord issue.

OK with my age and eyesight this Blackberry typing is tough.

Any way my blogs will be few and far between till I can get my laptop fixed or another job that allows me to blog ;-)..

Just want to say Day 2 of my "unemploymment" I got out to surf. Went to Bolsa..was a bitch to paddleout...I
I did lots of paddling and got no where..my friend Rebecca was with me and felt the same. We both caught and shared 1 wave and were out for an hour. I had one wipeout..and that was that. Rebecca went to work..I stayed in my wet wetsuit and drove to Blackies! I still wanted to surf and wanted something more forgiving!!

I Really can barely see these words..I hope my typing is not terrible!
Any way..went to Blackies..smaller should have been fun...but I just was so off or something..any way another hour there..and I think I caught 1 ride..Nothing eventful at all! My left shoulder is still acting up..and the paddling like a hamster on a wheel at Bolsa..just wore it out!! But Two Breaks an hour each!! Still counts.

At least I got wet! The water and weather were warm. So no complaints..I'm gonna try to post some pictures of Blackies and a nice shot from the pier..sort of a view from the otherside..The top picture is Bolsa..but the picture does not do it justice..there were shoulder to head high sets..and it was really like a washing machine..

However looking forwward to Sunday!! Surfing San O and its our surfs club "KICK OFF SUMMER" Party..I will try to blog about that too.

MOTHER'S DAY!!!

SO Mother's Day.. the ONE Day a year.. your kids HAVE TO BE NICE TO YOU.. oh I am just kidding! My kids really do rock! I am blessed with 5 beautiful Babies. ALL adults except my youngest(15 year old) still at home.

I also have been blessed with 2 grand kids to date... I am sure I will have more..but Really there is NO RUSH! I have my hands full with the 2 I have. Even though 1 lives on a military base in a different State. =(!Oh How I do miss her!

Any way! I love how they all " Worship" me on this day. BUT my favorite part is the fact we can all get together and hang out. It is a very rare thing to have all of them at one time. Although...My oldest(the soldier) was not there AND Greatly missed!

He use to be in charge of the Mother Day scene growing up. He would put his younger siblings to work and make me breakfast served in bed every year. There was always a skit or a song.. along with the gifts they made at school. I still have them..Those memories will live with me forever!

This year My 23 year old bought Hawaiin BBQ type dinner fixins & PINA COLADAS! and we all pitched in and made some yummy food and played UNO! We all just hung out and talked and my grandson did a lot of the entertaining..His favorite thing to do.. Push a chair around! Silly Boy.

Yes there were gifts as seen in first picture..Got my standard roses and a gift card to a surf shop.Just what every surfing Grandma requires..Nate My 21 year old made me Chocolate Covered Strawberries..and I received other "things" BUT MY FAVORITE GIFT.. was ALL of us being together.(AND the phone call from my soldier!)..Seriously the Best things in life cannot be bought!

OH and DID I MENTION.. PINA COLADA'S!


In other news was gonna surf on MD..but surf didn't show up.. I figure since Mother Nature has a lot to do with that and it is Mother's Day..She took the day off..and rightfully so. She needs a break from time to time as well! There are always other surf days!
